Goodchild Interiors, based in Bristol, is an award-winning architectural interior design and decoration consultancy, run by husband and wife team Paul Goodchild and Gill Richardson. We create stunning residential interiors that combine traditional and contemporary design ideas to produce bespoke homes of character and distinction.

Our experience and expertise delivers a comprehensive service for re-modelling, restoring, extending your property, or even providing a completely new building. We offer a high level of service throughout the design process, from concept to build, and our unique interior decorating service delivers the perfect finishing touches.

High-quality design expertise comes with experience. With over 30 years in the profession, we enjoy working with our clients, many of whom return to us to refresh a scheme, extend their homes or start a new project on a new property. This dedication is qualified by membership of the British Institute of Interior Design, Chartered Society of Designers, and an affiliate membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Institute for Archeologists.

We predominately work in South West England and London, but our clients are based all over the world. Our project values range from 25k for one room or a piece of bespoke joinery to 2.5M for an extensive build project. We are a small company by choice, so we can dedicate our time to quality rather than quantity. We aim to deliver a professional service without compromising our creativity.

All of our clients are unique. Depending on the scale and complexity of your ambitions we can dovetail as part of a full professional design team or assemble a team of our own specialists.

One advantage of having 30 years' design experience is that we have built solid relationships with specialist suppliers and builders throughout the UK and abroad. We aim to work with people who excel in their field, who provide consistent quality and top-notch service to help implement our design ideas.

We use a network of workshops and factories in the UK to deliver bespoke furniture, fittings and joinery. They have specialist skills in metal work, plastics, glass, concrete, marble and stone, timber, and engineering as well as soft furnishings and printing. Specialist, workshop-based artisans provide cabinet-work, antique furniture and painting restoration, bespoke ceramics, glassware, wallpaper, fabrics and rugs. We can commission in-situ specialists for building restoration, decorations, plaster and stone work.

We have worked with specialist building contractors in the UK and Europe on contracts valued from £25,000 to £2 million.

Our fabrics, furnishings and furniture are sourced from around the world, although we always stay local wherever possible. We aim to select the best options to fit each individual project’s parameters. This could mean British antiques and paintings, light-fittings from Murano in Italy, tiles from Morocco, fabrics from Sweden, component parts from Germany, marble from Italy or architectural salvage from France.

We work with trusted surveyors for mechanical, electrical and structural engineering work, and use technicians, multimedia consultants, and specialist suppliers on projects such as swimming pools, elevators, interactive 'smart' homes and so forth. Other established design consultants are used for timber-framed extensions, loft conversions, ground works, specialist planning applications and building regulations.
